The Cold That Builds Collagen
Why does the skin all over our body start to wrinkle and sag with age? That is because we lose collagen rapidly as we age. This can be easily prevented with cryotherapy.
By briefly freezing the outer layer of skin throughout the entire body, the deep layers of collagen are disrupted and respond by creating more collagen. As a result, the skin regains elasticity and appears both younger and smoother.
By focusing exclusively on the face with Local Cryotherapy, the surface of the face is enhanced immediately as the pores will appear much smaller and all inflammation and “puffiness” in the face is reduced, or even eliminated.
Anti-Aging Cryotherapy Treatments
Whole Body Cryotherapy Face Freeze
The first is Whole Body Cryotherapy. By briefly freezing the outer layer of skin throughout the entire body, the deep layers of collagen are disrupted, and respond by creating more collagen. As a result, the skin regains elasticity and appears both younger and smoother. Those who are experiencing cellulite have also reported a clear visual improvement as a result of the treatments.
The second application is Face Freeze™. By focusing exclusively on the face with local CryoWand, the surface of the face is enhanced immediately as the pores will appear much smaller and all inflammation and “puffiness” in the face is eliminated. Fine lines and wrinkles begin to disappear as your body responds to the cold by producing more collagen. Your face simply looks tighter. Then, with repeated applications, the collagen benefit is apparent as the skin’s actual elasticity is returned to an earlier, younger time in the life of the skin. This is an effective treatment which does not require surgery. There is no downtime and no pain.
Whole Body Cryotherapy
The Face Freeze™ was developed by cryo experts and doctors in America, and uses pressurized liquid nitrogen vapors which are applied to the face and neck. The cryofacial is very relaxing and thorough. Each treatment features both a scalp and neck nitrogen massage as well as a Facial, leaving you rejuvenated and firm from scalp to chest. The skin becomes tighter, more even-toned, and blood circulation is improved.
Weight Loss & Body Control
Since Whole Body Cryotherapy chills the body, it causes an increase in the basal metabolic rate. A single session of Whole Body Cryotherapy has been shown to cause the body to burn an additional 800-1000 calories. For weeks after even a single session, the Basal Metabolic Rate as measured by Indirect Calorimetry, has been shown to improve by 200 – 300 calories per day. Without change in diet, this would represent a burn of 2 pounds of body fat per month without diet or exercise.
Successful, permanent weight loss only occurs with an increase in metabolism. Without that increase, you join the ranks of 98% of all dieters who, after five years, gain all the weight back and then some. Only a 2% success rate, and that’s the “weight loss” world’s dirty little secret. Remember that optimizing metabolism is critical to achieving your ultimate weight loss goal.
Our body’s fat is formed in two main types: white fat and brown fat. White fat is the type we are all familiar with. It surrounds the organs and creates inflammation and resistance to insulin when it is excessive. Brown fat is the good fat. It is just like white fat except that it is very rich in mitochondria. This allows it to generate significant amounts of heat as needed. When the brown fat is strong and healthy, it can also create heat for the purposes of regulating the amounts of white fat. When white fat becomes excessive, the brown fat can burn it up for extra heat to control it and keep it at healthy levels.
Many researchers believe that one of the reasons for the current increases of obesity and diabetes is indoor climate control. Our genetic coding for thermoregulation has not changed significantly for 2.58 million years. During our history, we spent over 90% of the time in one ice age or another. The periods between ice ages, known as interglacial retreats were much more the exception than the norm.
In short, our bodies need episodic exposure to cold to properly control our metabolisms and our body mass. Obesity and overweight now account for 70% of the American population according to statistics from the Center for Disease Control. The rates have gone up dramatically over the last few decades. As a consequence of obesity, diabetes has doubled since 1980.
All effective weight loss programs work by one shared method: they create a caloric deficit. Our bodies burn calories for fuel each day. This is done to keep us alive and to power specific activities. Anytime we burn less fuel than we ingest, we gain weight. If we burn more than we ingest, we lose weight.
Each pound of body fat we carry represents approximately 3500 calories of stored fuel. To lose a pound of body fat, we need to create a deficit of 3500 calories over a period of at least 1 week.
This can be done by 3 methods:
• Consuming fewer calories
• Burning more calories through exercise
• Burning more calories through metabolism
Whole Body Cryotherapy is the only known safe, non-stimulant method to significantly raise our metabolism.
Stimulants such as ephedra or fen-phen raise metabolism by no more than 5% and only work temporarily. Those who use them for longer periods of time find that more of the drug is required for the same effect, they become resistant. Furthermore, when they stop taking the drug or lower their dose, they find that they burn fewer calories than they did on their own before taking it.
A typical adult woman will burn 2000 calories per day without doing additional exercise. If she takes a stimulant, this can increase her metabolism to 2100 calories per day. Yet when she stops, her metabolism will likely drop to 1700 – 1900 calories per day.
In the Whole Body Cryotherapy, we shock the outer layer of your skin with extreme cold temperatures. Your body responds by speeding up to literally “warm you up.” That increased speed translates to a boost in your metabolism and literally “burns” up calories as, over time, you return to your normal, warmer body temperature. This accelerated metabolism lasts for approximately 5-8 hours and can burn an additional 800-1000 calories during that time.
Whole Body Cryotherapy has been shown to raise the basal metabolic rate by 200 – 300 calories, even weeks after treatment. That means the typical woman can go from 2000 calories per day to 2300 calories per day. This is roughly the amount of additional calories that are burned with 45-60 minutes of daily exercise.
If Whole Body Cryotherapy is done in a protocol to elevate and maintain a higher basal metabolic rate and this is done in conjunction with a thermogenic diet plan and supportive supplements, consistent fat loss of 1-2 pounds per week can be expected. The very obese may notice even faster rates of initial fat loss.
Now, we have begun to notice that repeated exposure to the Whole Body Cryotherapy results in an elevated metabolism 24/7. Translation, you are burning MORE calories each and every day, regardless of your eating and exercise program or whether you are sitting, standing, lying down or even sleeping, simply as a result of repeated Whole Body Cryotherapy treatments.
Muscle & Joint Repair
The Cold That Heals
Cryotherapy Treatments to promote Muscle and Joint Health
When Whole Body Cryotherapy was first developed in Japan in 1978, it was specifically conceptualized for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, an inflammatory, autoimmune disease of the joints. While incredibly successful for that specific issue, it quickly became apparent that other joints and muscles throughout the body responded to the cryotherapy. Quite simply, people felt less pain and soreness in the injured or affected area.
For joint repair, whether it is the result of an injury, overuse or a form or arthritis, you have two options. First, you may elect Whole Body Cryotherapy, which will reduce inflammation, promote rapid healing and minimize pain. Second, you may add a second procedure with the hand held wand to provide more direct cool to the very specific area. Cryotherapy is also an excellent choice post-surgery as it accelerates healing to get you back to full mobility as soon as possible.
The key to gaining strength, leanness and appearance is lean muscle tissue. Lean muscle tissue is also the engine of your metabolism and optimizing it is essential to reducing body fat and weight. When you place force against a muscle, you create tiny little microscopic tears, which then must repair. By utilizing Cryotherapy you accelerate this muscle repair process so that you achieve your specific goals much faster.
The Cold That Soothes
The cold Cryotherapy temperatures trigger your body to release anti-inflammatories to be released throughout your blood finding and soothing the affected areas.
The Cold That Energizes
There have been numerous studies that show just 2-3 minutes of Whole Body Cryotherapy is beneficial to those who suffer from depression, anxiety or both.
The reason for this response is attributed to hormonal benefits that occur as a result of the Whole Body Cryotherapy treatments.
Clients report that after finishing a Whole Body Cryotherapy session, they feel an improvement in mood, a deeper sense of relaxation and euphoria, all as a result of the aforementioned hormonal benefits. They also report that it lasts a long time and, with repeated use, the results last even longer.
Our Cryosauna approach
There have been numerous studies that show that Whole Body Cryotherapy is beneficial to those who suffer from depression, anxiety or both. The reason for this response is attributed to hormonal benefits that occur as a result of just 2-3 minutes in the Whole Body Cryosauna.
In one particular study, patients who had 15 Whole Body Cryotherapy treatments over three weeks reported that their depression decreased by 50%. That’s a staggering amount of change given the short period of time plus the fact that it takes most classic anti-depressive medications twice as long to achieve any benefits.
